As much as hydropower is renewable, there are still some environmental impacts. Think about it, if somebody built a big dam, one side will dry out (which is already bad enough) and the other side will flood. Not just destroying trees and nature, but homes and businesses too, causing many people to leave there houses. That's not the only problem, fish can't swim upstream to spawn, or simply move around! But there is a solution to that, fish ladders or fish elevators.
That proves that hydropower does have it's ups and downs, but all up, it's still is a great renewable energy source. |
As we all know, there are many environmental issues on our planet. Renewable energy is a good start to reduce greenhouse gases. Hydroelectric energy is not the only renewable energy, there is solar, wind, biofuel, biomass, geothermal, tidal and wave energy. So, what can we do to reduce greenhouse gases, you ask? Well, we can encourage the government to use more renewable energy sources, like the seven you read earlier.
